FOUNDER
Sig is a Christian, devoted husband to his wife Lacy, proud father to triplet daughters, and loving stepfather to two children living in Columbia, Missouri. He is a 100% disabled veteran, endurance athlete, high-performance life coach, trainer, speaker, trauma-informed healer, and breathwork facilitator. He is also a running coach, certified 22Zero trauma coach, co-author of Life on Offense: A Tactical Guide to Dominate Life and End Mediocrity, founder of Do Hard Things Nation, and host of the Do Hard Things Podcast.
After 27 years of service in the U.S. Army, Sig retired as a Major, U.S. Army (Ret.), having risen from enlisted combat engineer to officer through Officer Candidate School. His military journey included deployments with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment during the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003, shaping the next generation of soldiers as a recruiter in St. Louis, and commanding two organizations dedicated to training future combat leaders at Fort Leonard Wood. His years of service took a toll, and today he lives with the lasting effects of military injuries as a 100% disabled veteran, yet he continues to turn pain into purpose.
Sig’s path to leadership and endurance was forged from difficult beginnings. Born a first-generation American, he grew up in a home marked by trauma, abuse, and instability. His father, a survivor of war-torn Berlin, carried the pain of losing his family during WWII, while his mother battled schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Amidst this chaos, Sig found his escape in running. Cross country and track gave him discipline, stability, and the confidence to chart a new path. At 17, he joined the U.S. Army, beginning a career defined by resilience, service, and leadership.
Beyond the military, Sig has tested his endurance in some of the world’s toughest events: ultramarathons, multiple 50Ks, the Missouri River 340-mile paddle race (twice, with a top-five tandem finish), the Dirty Kanza 200 gravel race, and the five-day Expedition Ozark adventure race. These challenges deepened his belief that true endurance is more mental than physical.
Today, Sig blends his experience as an Army leader and disabled veteran with his training as a trauma-informed healer and breathwork facilitator. He is a high-performance life coach, trainer, speaker, running coach, and certified 22Zero trauma coach. Through this unique combination, he helps people find clarity, heal trauma, and connect with their true purpose. As a certified high-performance coach, he equips individuals and teams to push past limitations and embrace the grit required for transformation. His rallying cry, Do Hard Things, has inspired countless people to pursue growth in fitness, business, healing, and life.
Sig’s story, shaped by broken beginnings, forged in the military, tested through endurance, and expanded through healing, proves that greatness is built one hard thing at a time.
